Family Law Workshops and Webinars
PLEIS-NB provides a series of free workshops and webinars to help people manage their own family law matters in New Brunswick. This series is called Navigating the Family Justice System. The workshops are 2 hours long and they are presented by New Brunswick lawyers.
The series addresses a range of topics, including:
- Changing a Child Support Order,
- Doing Your Own Uncontested Divorce,
- Separation: Legal Considerations,
- Family Law Matters for Immigrants in New Brunswick, and
- Preparing for a Family Court Hearing
Workshops and webinars are available in English, with select popular sessions offered in French as well.
In New Brunswick, how you apply for a divorce or change child support depends on where you live. The Moncton and Saint John areas use Rule 81 of the Rules of Court, and all other areas use Rule 72. To find out which rule applies to you, please visit the guide: Divorce and Child Support: Rule 72 and Rule 81 – Which Rule of Court Applies to you?
PLEIS NB depends on the generosity of New Brunswick lawyers to conduct our family law workshops and webinars and is actively seeking volunteers. Lawyers who facilitate these webinars are eligible for CPD credit from the Law Society of New Brunswick, corresponding to the length of the webinar. Each family law webinar typically lasts 2 hours, which equates to 2 hours of CPD credit.
For more information on delivering a family law webinar or volunteering in general, please visit our section dedicated to Lawyers Volunteering.
